What is Modular Math?

In modular systems, numbers “wrap around” after reaching a certain value — the modulus. If you’ve ever read a clock, you’ve already used mod 12: after 11 comes 0.

This wrapping structure reveals deep properties of the number world — prime cycles, residue fields, and symmetries hiding in plain sight.

In mod 7, the number 10 is equivalent to 3 — because 10 and 3 leave the same remainder when divided by 7. That remainder is called a residue. The entire modular system can be mapped as a set of these repeating residues.
